Are you feeling distraught with the excess flem build up in your throat? Is breathing a difficult process? That is exactly how I felt when I had constant flem in my throat. The bright side is that it can be easily brought down. It is to be understood that the body naturally produces flem to act as air filters.
But the production of flem shoots up due to infection. This is when things get irritating and you need to get flem out of your throat. Flushing out the excess flem can be made practical by taking note of the following remedies.
1. Steam Inhalation
Inhaling steam is the simplest and best way to get rid of flem in throat. When you inhale steam, all the dried up solidified flem gets back to liquid state. This facilitates easy blowing off. The best way to inhale tons of steam is a steam bath. Have a steam shower at least two times a day for best results. Make sure to moisturize your skin afterwards as warm water takes out essential moisture and oil from the skin. Another method is to inhale directly from a bowl of hot water while keeping a towel over your head.
2. Salt Water and Turmeric
Gargling warm salt water is a very powerful way to eradicate flem in throat. Warm water is highly soothing for the throat while salt kills off the disease causing bacteria which produces flem in your throat. Turmeric is known for its antiseptic properties. It can also be effectively used to kill bacteria. Moreover, turmeric is also excellent for immunity. Turmeric can also be added to warm salt water for best results. Repeat this process at least three times a day for best results. Another way to consume turmeric is by drinking it with warm water twice a day in the morning and at night.
3. Lemon Juice With Honey
Lemon is an anti-flem agent which loosens flem consistency so that it easily flows out. Moreover, it has anti-bacterial properties which makes it a super flem combating ingredient. Being rich in Vitamin C it also boosts the bodys immunity. Honey is known for its soothing and healing properties which comes of good use here. It is advised to drink two to three glasses of lemon juice mixed with honey for a week. Another option is to slice a lemon open and sprinkle salt and pepper over it. Sucking this lemon slice is known to force out a lot of flem. I got flem in my throat cleared using this remedy. Some people find that thyme, honey, and myrrh or elderberry could be used to help clear a sore throat. Ginger is the most popular remedy when it comes to fighting respiratory issues. It has expectorant, anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties which instantly destroys all sorts of infection causing bacteria. Having ginger makes the breathing easy. Ginger tea is a popular cure to a lot of ailments including flem treatment. Just slice ginger into many pieces and heat it in boiling water. Once it is made warm, mix honey with it. This can be drunk two to three times a day for quick recovery. Chewing raw ginger from time to time is also beneficial.
Garlic has sulfur which is lethal for bacteria. As more and more bacteria are neutralized, the infection slowly comes down which directly results in less flem production. Consuming some cloves of garlic before going to bed can work wonders. Another way is to add some garlic to all your food. It goes well with almost all preparations. Adding chilli along with garlic is also beneficial. Basically, anything that makes food spicy will thin out the flem.
6. Chicken Soup
This is probably the tastiest of all remedies. Hot chicken soup is excellent in moisturizing the throat passages and in thinning flem. It induces relaxation and soothes the throat. Having chicken daily will not just reduce flem but also give instant energy. Adding ginger and garlic to the soup will make it even more potent. Try to make it spicy by adding extra chilli.
