Kidney stones are small lumps resembling stones which develop in either one or both of your kidneys. They are usually formed when substances that form crystals are found in excess in your urine to the point they cannot be diluted. Such substances include uric acid, calcium and oxalate.

1. Nettle Leaf
It is fully known as stinging nettle. It has a good history as a medicinal herb used especially in Asian countries. Fiber is a good item to add to your diet for kidney stones. It prevents kidney stones from growing bigger. It also hinders additional kidney stones from forming by enabling more calcium to be passed through the stool. This reduces the chances of calcium crystallizing and forming kidney stones. Some sources of insoluble fiber include:
– Green vegetables
Although green vegetables are healthy, they also contain high amounts of oxalate which also aids in formation of kidney stones. They should thus be taken in reasonable amounts.
4. Apple Cider Vinegar

6. Water Melon
The potassium and high water content found in the watermelon helps prevent further formation of kidney stones at the same time flushing out existing kidney stones. Eating this fruit on a daily basis will promote good health for your kidneys. The seeds can also be eaten since they also contribute to good kidney health.
Wheatgrass is beneficial in treating various kidney problems including kidney stones. It could be prepared as tea and drank twice or thrice a day. You can add other ingredients to the tea including lemon juice. The vitamins A & E, magnesium and potassium found in wheatgrass prevents kidney stones from forming and it also helps to break down and flush out already existing kidney stones. It is also a diuretic.
8. Dandelion Root
Dandelion green can be used to make salad and the dandelion root can be used to make tea. It helps in stimulating production of bile in the body. Bile aids in digestion hence little to no crystals that form kidney stones will be found in the kidney.
Celery is a diuretic hence helps in passing urine smoothly. It also aids in getting rid of toxins which are responsible for formation of kidney stones. You can juice it and drink one glass daily. Alternatively, the seeds can be used to make tea. The type of kidney stones treated using celery is uric acid stones.
